A Bad Interface — Omegle

I think that Omegle has a bad user interface and it makes using the site confusing. It’s a site used to randomly get connected with other users ad you can video or text chat. On the main page the only image is a flag and I’m not sure what that has to do with the site. Then to start chatting as a user I don’t know which button to click. Why is there an adult section and an unmoderated section? I don’t know what the college student chat is and there is no information on the page. Then there is an option to add interests but it doesn’t tell me to hit enter after every one so I could accidentally type in my interests wrong. I would just add slightly more information what each chat entails exactly; especially since there is a lot of unused space on the site.

Main Screen and Interest Box

Then when you click video it automatically thrown you into the chat room. I wish it put you in a “loading” room so you could check your mic and camera before you begin. Then once you start video chatting; the majority of the screen is a white page, and rarely anyone types so it’s a lot of wasted space. I think changing the layout and making the video rectangles double the size would be better and maybe adding buttons for quick emojis that appeared in the upper corner (like zoom) would make this interface more fun. Also the button the skip to the next person is in the bottom by the chat function so a user could get confused what that button is for if they get caught up in a conversation with another user.
